Exchange Student Housing Near Yonsei University

Yonsei is the university we hear from most often among KCH applicants — students heading there for an exchange show up in our applications more than from any other school. In practice, that means if you end up in a KCH house, there's a real chance some of your housemates are on the same exchange program you are.

Yonsei was founded in 1885 and is one of Korea's oldest and best-known private universities. Its main campus — the one almost all exchange students attend — is in Sinchon, in the same part of Seoul (Seodaemun-gu / Mapo-gu) where KCH houses are.

Deciding on housing from abroad, sight unseen, is hard — so before you commit, it's worth seeing KCH for yourself. Yonsei University's campus is at 50 Yonsei-ro, Seodaemun-gu, Seoul 03722, South Korea. All of KCH's currently active houses are in Seoul's Mapo-gu and Seodaemun-gu districts — the same general area as Yonsei. The things exchange students most commonly weigh when picking a KCH room: budget (rent + deposit), private vs. shared room, how many housemates a house has, the house's general vibe, whether it's mixed-gender, and whether bedding is provided. Most KCH stays run 4–5 months — matching a typical exchange semester — with a smaller group staying around 10 months for a full-year exchange. Move-ins are heavily concentrated around Korean semester starts: August and February — by far the two busiest months of the year. Apply as early as you can once your exchange placement is confirmed — rooms near the start of each semester go fast.
